Splendora

Splendora.com, the authority on fabulous
There are invitations which relay event details in a vaguely dressed up way, and then there are those whose design is so beautifully crafted that they qualify as artwork. Creations by Gryphon Stationers fall into the latter category, which is why they have quickly become an obsession at Splendora HQ. They transcend elegance, fusing the highest quality paper stock, customized monograms, and rich color schemes to form multi-dimensional pieces that are imaginative and classy. Deep eggplant embossed with gold and decorated with intricate script or a lovely and simple piece emblazoned with ice blue text - these are just two examples of Gryphon's refined work.

The company invites clients to integrate themselves into the design process to ensure that the final result feels irrevocably personal. In many ways, you play designer, giving your "yay" or "nay" along each step of layout and development. If you hail from the San Francisco area, you can schedule an in-person consultation appointment, but non-locals can utilize the convenient online customization service to order invitations, announcements, and stationery from afar. Whatever option you choose, Gryphon guarantees that your letterpressed and engraved goods will radiate regality, impressing the recipient and calling for you to frame it for posterity.

I village: Very Pretty Papers

I village Features Gryphon: September 07
'Wedding ideas & planning advice from Anne Chertoff' Ivillage Blog:

I received a package of invitations from Gryphon Stationers in the mail earlier this week, and I’m telling you, it is the most beautiful invitations I’ve ever seen. The color. The design. If I were a bride today I would have the hardest time choosing between their styles.

The online invitation company allows couples to browse, create and order their invitations online. Here's how it works: You choose from one of their designs, then customize to fit your color palette and theme. Add an icon from the selection they offer, add your monogram and select the typeface. They even offer wedding wording advice for couples who want to make sure they follow proper etiquette.

If you want to design your own invite, you can call them, or if you live in San Francisco, Philadelphia or New York City you can meet with one of the designers in person, and create your own invitation suite.

I know ordering your invitations online can be scary, but for $25 you can order a sample packet to see the designs up-close and feel the paper. If you place an order, your $25 is credited towards it.

After you finalize your designs you’ll receive a proof in the mail so that you can see the paper and text color, design and confirm the wording as well as spelling of everyone’s name. You can order entire invitation set – RSVP card, reception card as well as save-the-dates and thank you cards.

From the samples they sent me, my favorite is the European, but that’s probably because the sample I have is in purple (Eggplant), with light blue type, and you know how much I love purple!

Have a great weekend!

Design Your Own Wedding Invitation Online Simply & Elegantly

by Gryphon Stationers
Graphic design partners Erik Olsen and Trina Hancock announce the launch of their web-based invitation design company: Gryphon Stationers.

Borrowing from their twenty years of experience in designing identity packages, websites and collateral material for the most discerning clients, Gryphon Stationers provides a variety of invitation designs ranging from weddings, baby showers, or general stationery in styles created for people with a modern sensibility and elegant taste.

Short circuiting the time it takes to pore through the many books of invitations, culling for good design in a sea of average, Olsen and Hancock have edited only the most attractive ideas for the style-conscious to choose from. Customers enter the site and with simple instructions are able to create, preview and order a customized invitation or announcement online based on a template of handsome typefaces, paper stocks, ink colors, motifs and monograms. (Both traditional letterpress and engraved options are available.) The finished proof is approved online with a confirmation, and the final print arrives within four to six weeks.

While customers are welcome to visit the SF office by appointment for a custom designed invitation, the site was developed to provide exceptional one-on-one service via e-mail and telephone to compete with traditional stationery stores. Gryphon plans to convert an upscale clientele away from their local store through the simplicity of maneuvering through the site and delivering unprecedented quality easily.

With 28 ink colors, 7 typefaces, 10 paper stocks, and only 4-6 weeks of lead time, Gryphon Stationers provides a variety of beautiful choices for those who appreciate fine taste.
